P2000 G3 SAS slow performance

Hi,

I have HP SC08Ge HBAs and P2000 G3 solution (RAID6, 8+2 spare disks) working on XenServer 5.6.0 . What seems to be strange, is the speed - 35MB/s maximum in one VM (Squeeze) however in Dom0 is 100MB/s. Is it normal or I have to investigate some bottleneck or whatever ... I'm quite disappointed about this controllers as they and HBAs have 6Gb/s throughput theoretically.

May the cables be the problem? I have not bought the original HP cables, but some Delock ones..

Please note that HP SC08Ge HBA provides support for both 3Gb SAS and 1.5Gb SATA devices. Providing up to 2.4GB/s maximum bandwidth with nearly four times the speed of dual channel U320 SCSI adapters. Please find the following,

So even though you have connected with P2000 G3 of 6GB ports you will not have 6GB performance because your HBA doesn't support.

You need to use HP SC08e 6Gb SAS HBA to get the optimum performance. Please find the following,

Also, always recommended to use HP cables as well.

Upgrading from 5.6.0 to Xenserver 5.6.0fp1 did the thing, 600MB/s inside VM.

That is really great but still I would recommend you to go for HP SC08e 6Gb SAS HBA.

Yes, the HBAs are 2x3Gbps.

Hi,

I have SAN P2000 G3 SAS and D2700 SAS enclosure, 35 x 300Gb SAS 10k rpm disks and 14 x 1Tb 7.2k SAS disks.

I created 3 vdisks in RAID 5 configuration and tried to transfer some files from one to other (about 2Tb of information). I am surprised to see that max. rate of transfer it's 10Mb/s.

What is the problem? Where I wrong?

I have 2 controllers between enclosures.
