P2000 - host profile

Hi all,

some time ago I presented a lot of P2000 volumes to hosts, but I was not able to find the profile selection in the GUI of this P2000 G3.

Finally I did all the mapping on the CLI, because this was very fast and easy (about 120 host assignments), but I wounder where I can find the host profile assignment in the GUI.

Any hints or screenshots?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: P2000 - host profile

Hey, I don't have access to one now.

But after working with them for a while - one day I realized you can right-click on the SMU and get more options :)

Maybe that's where your presenting is?

Re: P2000 - host profile

Well, I was able to assign a volume to a host, but I cannot find where to assign the profile (e.g. hpux) to this host entry.

What I finally did is this from CLI:

# set host-name id profile hp-ux

but I'm still curious how I can do this from GUI/SMU.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: P2000 - host profile

Hi Torsten,

As per my knowledge there is no option from SMU but I am searching if I can get any useful information for you.

Re: P2000 - host profile

Thanks.

The SMU guide says it should be available when during "add host", but I cannot find this.

page 74:

- Profile. Select the appropriate option that specifies whether the host allows use of LUN 0 for
mappings:

- Standard: LUN 0 can be assigned to a mapping. This is the default.
- OpenVMS: LUN 0 cannot be assigned to a mapping.
- HP-UX: LUN 0 can be assigned to a mapping and the host uses Flat Space Addressing

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: P2000 - host profile

Select the MSA and then go to the tab "provisioning"-> select "Add Host"-> then you will be getting three options to fill up. They are "Host ID", "Host Name" and "Profile". From profile drop down menu you will have three options-> Standard (default), Open VMS and HP-UX. Attached is the screenshot for your reference.

But this is only at the time of new host addition. But for a existing host properties to change like "profile"....this only possible through CLI.

Re: P2000 - host profile

OK; how about discovered hosts?

Can I set the profile for discovered hosts too?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: P2000 - host profile

I don't think there is any option available in SMU to change the existing host (neither discovered hosts nor normal host) profile information.

In order to change existing host profile only option is to do from CLI.

But still I am trying to search more information on this.
