P812 and D2600

we have connected 4 D2600 storage to a DL580 G7 with 4 P812 like so:
* P1 connector from I/O Module A of the HP StorageWorks D2600 Disk Enclosure
array and Port 1e of the P812 Smart Array Controller card from the back
of the
DL580 G7 server
* P1 connector from I/O Module B of the HP StorageWorks D2600 Disk Enclosure
array and Port 2e of the P812 Smart Array Controller card from the back
of the
DL580 G7 server

The server detects the disks (48 disks/12 for each enclosure) but a red
LED light is blinking on the enclosure on the P1 connector from I/O Module A

Re: P812 and D2600

Hi,

Have you tried swapping cables or I/O modules to isolate the problem?

There is new firmware that just came out to improve signal integrity. Which versions are you running on P812 and D2600?

Re: P812 and D2600

i could be very useful if someone could share a cabling example. i am not sure that the cabling is done correctly, or maybe if i could find a tool that could diagnose the exact issue.
thank you

Re: P812 and D2600

hi,
i am aware of that cabling example butt be aware that i have 4 P812 controllers, that has got 4 ports. i want to connect every storage to a single storage. i do not know exactly which 2 ports of the controller to us. I assumed as that it is ok to use the first of the two but it is not ok

Re: P812 and D2600

Is the red LED on i/o module A on all four enclosures or on one enclosure?

You wiring is a dual domain wiring as shown in this document on page 4.

It is also the same as the one on page 48 or 49 of the previous document if you eliminate one of the two enclosures.

It does not matter which two ports you use on the controller. They are all separate and independent each serving 4 SAS ports. See the P812 quickspecks

24 SAS/SATA physical links distributed across six Mini SAS connectors
Two Mini SAS 4i connectors (8 physical links): for attachment to internal drive backplanes
Four Mini SAS 4x connectors (16 physical links): for attachment to JBODs and external tape drives

Re: P812 and D2600

Dual domain connectivity for the D2600 requires firmware 3.x. Check the firmware level on the D2600.

Re: P812 and D2600

Your connection looks good and it is setup for dual SAS domain connectivity.

You need to determine if this is a dual domain support issue or a hardware issue.

1. Is the red LED on, on *ALL* four enclosures or just one of them?

2. Did you check the firmware level on the enclosure(s)?

3. What happens if you remove the second wire (from P812 to D2600 module B)? Does the light on module A go out?
