Partition offset Smart Array P400

Hi there,

Can you please tell me how I can either find or calculate the RAID stripe size, the partition offset and the allocation unit size for the RAID array on a Smart Array P400.

Many thanks for any help offered

Re: Partition offset Smart Array P400

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the response. I should have really had a good look at this tool before asking the question! The tool is great for provided me with the array stripe size, any ideas for the partition offset?

Thanks again

Re: Partition offset Smart Array P400

That must be a Windows setting, since partitions are created by Windows NTFS filesystem, not the SmartArray.

Re: Partition offset Smart Array P400

Thanks for the response. You're absolutly right that the partitions are created by windows. I've used the diskpart utility to display the partition offsets but have been informed that these are not necessarily correct for logical partitions created on an array. If anyone has any information on this or the correct method for creating a logical partition with a predefined offset I would be most appreciative. This is in relation to the correct disk configuration for SQL Server on a RAID 1+0 array
