Re: Perfomomance on va7100 when i add a new disk

current firmware for this disk array is HP20, but it's not a problem to run HP17. HP is using differnet disks, so they have different firmware, even if capacity is equal. You need to know the exact disk-type (e.g. ST318xxxFC) to determine the current disk-firmware.
But if you insert the disks, the array is reformatting the disk from 512b blocks to 520 and re-balacing itself. Depending on the priority of this process the performance may go down for short time (some hours). Don't worry about.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi

It is not advisable to mix drives of different speeds for performance reasons

Re: Perfomomance on va7100 when i add a new disk

as far as I know, latest firmware for st336605fc is HP09 and st336753fc is HP05.So it seems not to be an firmware issue. perhaps you can provide an "armdsp -a your_array" output for more detailed view.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Perfomomance on va7100 when i add a new disk

looks like the array was down when you got this information. The problem is, also your new disk in slot 10 is down. Maybe this disk is gone and slows your array down. But you can try to re-add the disk by typing:

armcfg -D M/D10 -a your_array_alias

What color is the disk LED? Send the armdsp -a output again.

Hope this helps!
