Port Behavior on VA7400

Hi!

I would like to know the following.

I have got a VA7400 with 4 Disk enclosures (DS2405).The VA7400's port behavior is set to HP-UX, since there is only HP-UX machines connecting to the VA7400.

I want to be able to connect Linux,Windows and Sun to the same VA7400 solution.

My question is how is this done since the VA7400 port behavior is HP-UX, and this will only cater for HP-UX machines?

Please Help
Regards

Re: Port Behavior on VA7400

Hi

First you should know what are the WWN of the FC HBA on the remaining hosts. You can do this by logging into your FC switches. After that you must go to the server which has Command View installed and do this:

1- armdsp -i -> will give the VA alias
2- armhost -r -f /var/tmp/hostport.txt -> will create a file with the host port configuration already writen
3- edit the hostport.txt file
4- armhost -c -w -f /var/tmp/hostport.txt

and you're done.

For the file you should add each hba for the servers with this rule ( node_wwn host_mode). Example :

2000ca525s5522 WIN2000
2000c747777222 WIN2000
2000c848373732 Linux

etc
etc

The host modes are :

HPUX

Win2000

WinNT

Linux

Solaris

NetWare

AIX

MPE

Tru64

OpenVMS

Good luck,

Ricardo
