Power specification on the A3312A Jamaica box

I have searched ITRC far and wide looking for data on this box.

I'm soon to inherit a D380/2 with a A3312 Jamaica JBOD attached.

The D class box requires a 1300Kv UPS or up. I looked at the stamp on the A3312 and got the following:

120V 3.3 Amp
220V 1.7 Amp

This does nothing in helping me figure out how bit a UPS the Jamaica box needs.

Bunny for the first correct answer. I'd prefer docs but if you have to look at an old piece of paper, thats cool too.

Re: Power specification on the A3312A Jamaica box

OK, if I remember correctly, the solution is something like;

P=EI (or Watts=Voltage x Current), but for KVA I usually take something around the %RMS (for electrical, ~0.72). I don't have my old textbooks anymore, and it has been a lot of years.

So this would be 120*3.3*0.72=285.12.

A 280KVA would do it, but it would probably only run it on battery for 3-5 minutes.

I can tell you from experience that my APC smart-ups 600 (~480KVa) runs one with all 8 4Gb drives for 35-40 minutes, but anything over 350 would probably be adequate.

You can look up the equations in any Electrical or Engineering textbook, or if he is so inclined, Clay could easily rattle them off.

Further bunny op: A document backing this up. Thanks for the electrical calculations.

It seems i could hang it off an inexpensive 800 Kva unit and reach OS shutdown initiated from the D box which requires 1300 kva without losing disk synch.

Just have to make sure the D box shuts down before the Jamaica does.
