Problem MSA 30 DB + DL560 + SA6400
We have a problem with MSA30DB connected to ProLiant DL560 G1 by SmartArray 6400. Approximately once a week some of the disks placed in MSA30DB disappear. After restart of server disks appear again but logical drive (RAID 1+0 based on 6 disks) which contains these disks has to be rebuilded. There is no rule on which drive or bus error occur. Below you can see errors from event viewer of Windows 2003:
---------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: cpqcissm
Event Category: None
Event ID: 9
Date: 6/28/2006
Time: 02:08:06
User: N/A
Computer: HOST1
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\cpqcissm2, did not respond within the timeout period.
-----------------------------------------
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: CPQCISSE
Event Category: None
Event ID: 24683
Date: 6/28/2006
Time: 02:14:29
User: N/A
Computer: HOST1
Description:
SCSI bus fault occurred on Storage Box box 0, , Port 0 of Array Controller in slot 2.
This may result in a "downshift" in transfer rate for one or more hard drives on the bus.
-------------------------------------------
We have already upgraded firmware and driver of SmartArray 6400 and firmware of all disks.
SA6400:firmware Rev B, v2.62, Driver 5.70.0.32
Disks 146.8GB:Model COMPAQ BF14687B56, firmware HPB4
Could you give us any advice what we should do to solve the problem ?

I was wondering if you managed to get a fix for the above issue as we appear to be having the same issues.

Updated recommended hard drive firmware list with models that have been experiencing excessive SCSI command timeouts. When one of these drives is present, user will see a POST message recommending he upgrade the drive's firmware. Failure to upgrade may result in the bus down-shifting from Ultra 320 to Ultra 3.
