RA4000 firmware update for linux 2.6 kernel driver devlopment
hello,
I'm trying to install a the 2.60 firmware to a RA4000 array controller. As FC-card I used a HP HHBA-5101C 64bit pci card, but the firmware update disk does not find any RA4000 arrays.
What fc-card should I use?
I'm going to write a driver for the RA4x00 arrays for linux kernel 2.6 because the cpqfc driver or the HHBA-5101c tachyon chipset it out from the kernel. This fc-card driver also included some special code for the RA4x00 arrays which are currently broken with linux 2.6.

Re: RA4000 firmware update for linux 2.6 kernel driver devlopment
Hi Ingo,
As far as I rememeber you have to use a Compaq HBA to flash the Firmware on the RA4x00. I know that Compaq released two HBA's on was a 32bit PCI card and the other was a 64bit PCI card. Both used a tachyon chipset on the HBA both were FC-AL cards. I have two 64bit cards in a Sever running Windows 2K so I can check the Tachyon chipset in a day or so. One thing I found out that the firmware flash program might not find the RA4x00 system if there is two controllers in Ra4x00 and the HBA in highest pci slot (pci slot 1 for exmaple)is attached to the redundant controller. I always unplugged the redundant controller from the Ra4x00 if the firmware flash program was finding the Ra4x00
