RAID 1 across 2 different enclosures...

Hi There,
can anyone tell me, if its possible to create a RAID1 over 2 external storage enclosures (43xx) and make an additional stripe set (RAID0) over that RAID 1.
The enclosures are connected to the external interfaces of the 5304 SmartArray, that means on different channels anyway ...
Thanks in advance ....

Re: RAID 1 across 2 different enclosures...

.hmmm seams to be difficult. I will explain my vision. if i can create a RAID 1 over an single smart-arry but over 2 channels which are connected to 2 external enclosures which have each 12 disks inside, it may be that there are after that 12 logical drives which i must be able to stripe with RAID 0 ??? The other way is to test that really in a test-env, but thats not so simple ....
thanks for any help ...

Re: RAID 1 across 2 different enclosures...

yep, done it a few times.
the array config utility does this easily, just select the drives you wish to use to create teh logical drive from both scsi buses, select raid 1 and it will happily build a raid0+1 set for you.
yer its very too
