Raid 5 Array

WE are setting up a new server using the HP software with a Smart Array 642 and are trying to load the OS to one large partition. The software uses the entire partition but only allocates 4 Gb of space to the OS and then the remaining space is inaccessable. Must I use 2 partitions?
