Raid 5 Doubt

Hello All,

I am new in this part.
So we have 12 discs in raid 5 "mirroring".
I would like to know where can i found which disk is mirroring with the others?
Also where is the directory and files for Raid 5 , where should i manage it ?

Thanks a lot
I appreciate since now.

Re: Raid 5 Doubt

Sure you are right.

Well the server is Tru64 4.0g with 2 storage areas with 6 disks in each one.
But I don├В┬┤t know if it├В┬┤s hardware or software Raid.
Is there a way(command)to find that out?

Thanks a lot

Re: Raid 5 Doubt

Bruno,

First of all RAID 5 doesn't stand for mirroring. RAID 5 is will use all the disks for storing the data but the capacity of one full disk will be reserved for the parity information. With RAID5 the parity data will be spread across all the disks.

Re: Raid 5 Doubt

Hi Bruno,

If this is on your temporary machine and the raid5 is configured on the hsz70, then it is harware. The os does not know anything about that. It sees only a simple disk device.
