Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

Raid5 fails to rebuild, after starting...

I have a DL380/G3 (SA5i) and am using 3 36.4GB Disks in one logical drive (Raid5). A disk failed out of the raidset (Disk2 port2,red fault on) then after a period of time started rebuilding back into the raidset. This operation never completed due to a read error. The disk reporting the error is disk0 port2.
Short of a complete rebuild, is there anything else I can try? This server is hosting our BES application, so downtime is rare.

If you're operating now on two drives then reseat/replace the failed drive and hope the rebuild takes. If two drives are failed then obviously you're out of luck.

Seen this happen before with 5i's. Make sure you have the latest Firmware and Driver on the 5i and disk drive firmware to reduce the "rebuild fails, other drive now has a failure" issue.

FWIW suggest using a hot spare and the latest ACU version.
