Rebuilding

Hi.. Rebooted Proliant 5500 server (housing MSSQL) with SmartArray 3200 this morning. Received a "Press F1 to rebuild, F2 to continue" message - I selected F2. I was able to boot. Now, When I look at the Array Utility, it says status is "Waiting to Rebuild".

The server was brought down gracefully without problems. Why would it give me a rebuild message if it was brought down gracefully and all the disks are healthy??? Does this mean the controller's write cache have data waiting to be committed to the disks..

Re: Rebuilding

Randy,

No, data isn't in the cache when you get this message. Usually, this message means that one of the drives had failed and was replaced. You will keep getting this message until you do a rebuild. If all the drives appear healthy in ACU, then I'd suggest upgrading the 3200 firmware to the latest of 4.48 using SP16371.exe located at www.compaq.com. Make sure you update your OS drivers BEFORE you upgrade the array controller.

Have a nice day,

Mike
