Recover data from a damage smart array controller

I have a Proliant 2000 and my smart drive array controller dosen`t work any more.
How do I recover data? I try with the first hard drive to put it in another SCSI controller, but the information is unreadeble. Does anybody know how to solve the problem?

Re: Recover data from a damage smart array controller

Sebastian,
you can try and put all(!) disk drives on a new SmartArray controller to see if he can read the meta-data.

It is unlikely that you can recover the data through a simple JBOD enclosure or another RAID controller, because they very likely use different algorithm for their RAID implementation.

Re: Recover data from a damage smart array controller

Sebastian all the Compaq Smart Array Controllers are compatible between version 2.x to 6.x. Only if you had a smart array 1.x you not able to read the data anymore. But with your Proliant 2000 it should be possible to replace your Array Controller, and reboot the system, and the data should be ok.
