Redundant drive enclosure config ?

Redundant drive enclosure config ?

On an EVA5000 with 8 drive enclosure housing 8 disks each. You should be able to lose one enclosure and still maintain data integrity.
Should this not also be possible with a 6 x 6 setup.

Have a client who can't get it to work.
Could be a firmware issue, or ??

Re: Redundant drive enclosure config ?

It depends of RRS, not firmware. The only way to create "right" configuration is manually add disks distributing over all disk shelfs.

Re: Redundant drive enclosure config ?

Thats what they did. 6 Shelf with 6 disks in each. One group.
No go!

Re: Redundant drive enclosure config ?

It's only possible with a very small disk group of 12 disk drives - else, the RSS "preferred size" kicks in and you loose.
.

Re: Redundant drive enclosure config ?

So thats upto 12 disks or only 12 disks?

So in this case a group of 12 disk, 2 on each shelf will work. Else RSS wins the shoot out ?
