Removing AutoRebuild on an H12

Removing AutoRebuild on an H12

Background: After a (18gig) disk failed in our A3700 H12 Sure Store disk array, the disk array could not fully initialise. A reboot of the disk system initiated an auto rebuild. This is currently underway and looks like it will take up to 8 hours to complete; in the meantime all other processes hang.

Question: Would it be advisable to change the auto-rebuild setting to a manual rebuild so that users can still access the system (this is the point of mirroring!) and initiate the rebuild manually at a time when no users are in the system?

Thanks

Re: Removing AutoRebuild on an H12

Paul,
all these can be done from 12h's front panel. To turn off autorebuild go to 'disk changes' submenu and turn it off. There you will see options you can use in convenient time to 'start rebuild' or 'stop rebuild'.
You may want to lower rebuild priority with 'arraymgr -p low' command
