Removing a drive from an array

Is it possible to "gradefully" remove a physical drive from an existing array while leaving the array intact? I no longer need as many drives in a particular array (RAID 5) that I have on my Proliant 3000R server and would like to use the drive in another idential array on another server that has identical drives in it's array. Will the removal of the physical drive from the array result in my destroying the array and/or logical drive, thus necessitating a complete server restore?

Re: Removing a drive from an array

No! Your current array will continue to operate but it will be in a degraded state.
The drive you remove already has an SO installed, so you will get and error when you try to add it to the other ARRAY.

Thanks, that's what I suspected, but I was curious. At the cost storage is these days it's no big deal to purchase another 18.2gb drive. Happy Holidays!

Re: Removing a drive from an array

Pulling a working drive from an Array is not recommended . Pulling the drive could cause data corruption or data loss .
