Replacing 4.3 Narrow with 4.3 Wide
I have a Proliant 1500 with a Smart2/P Array Controller with 2 logical drives (1 internal in 1500 and 1 in external storage subsystem). The server has 5 4.3 narrow drives in it. I would like to replace them with 4.3 Fast//Wide drives. I tried taking out and replacing one old drive with a wide drive but the wide drive comes up failed. If this had worked I would have gone through, over time and done them all but this does not seem to work.
I removed all the drives and put in the wide drives and they all came up fine. Only problem is the external storage subsystem running off the same Smart2/P seems like it will loose its configuration (logical drive) if I re-create the logical drive in the 1500 with the new wide drives. Any suggestions on either method?
