SRDF

How to list all SRDF VGs in HP-UX box. Or if the given VG is part of SRDF or not.?

Re: SRDF

SRDF replication must be set separately for each PV: the storage system does not know or care about HP-UX VGs. But the SYMCLI admin tools may allow targeting some operations to all PVs of a particular VG, if the admin tools are executed on HP-UX.

You must have the SYMCLI tools ("Solutions Enabler") installed.

See "symvg show" or "sympd list" and examine the disk types. If I recall correctly, there should be "R1" added to the type field of the master side of SRDF devices. The slave side would be "R2", but I think those are usually not visible to the host.

The free "inquiry" tool available from EMC may also be able to identify the SRDF status of EMC disks.

HP-UX standard commands cannot identify the SRDF status of EMC disks.

Re: SRDF

Thanks MK.
I have symcli installed. What is the purpose of /usr/symmapps/local/etc/dgtab file.
This has grouped diff VG, FS and disks.
Could you pls explain on this.?

Re: SRDF

No idea. We don't have the /usr/symmapps directory in our systems.

Re: SRDF

I would say this is environment specific.

dg tab file has information about the sym devices used in diffent volume group on source as well the destination place.

so when the replication takes place it helps to understand the which device is getting sync to which device.
