Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

Setting MSA1500 redundant path from Automatic to Manual

We have an MSA1500 recently upgraded to FW 7.0.
We also have 4 Win2003 servers connected to this MSA1500 each with one LUN.

We want to change the redundant path settings from Automatic to Manual and configure MPIO conform these settings (no load balancing)
Best practice from HP

When we changed the redundant path settings from Automatic to Manual the system was telling us that some Operating Systems need a reboot and we cancelled the operation.

Does Win2003 need a reboot to change all of these settings or can I change these paramaters online?

Re: Setting MSA1500 redundant path from Automatic to Manual

Panjandrum,
I've never had to reboot.

Let me add.
If you go to manual and use (no load balancing) for MPIO, you better know what you are doing. You can easily get into a proxy I/O situation effecting the performance of every server connected.

Go ahead and use (no load balancing) for MPIO, leave the MSA to automatic. The MSA will move the LUNs under the correct controller.
