I have a Proliant ML350 running Netware 6.0 with a Smart Array 641 Controller running RAID 5 and hot-swappable drives. I had a drive fail and Insight Manager 7.0 says to replace the drive. Here is the question: Do I simply put in another identical drive and the data reconstruction starts automatically, or is there a utility I need to run to facilitate this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Solution
Wayne:
When you insert the new drive in the array, the controller will rebuild the data automatically. You should see console messages if you have the storage agent loaded.
If you are concerned about removing the drive while Novell is running, you can replace the drive "offline". At POST, you will be presented with a dialog to press F1 to rebuild the new drive or F2 to fail the drive and not rebuild. Choose F1 and rebuild on the new drive.

Re: Simple question about drive replacement
John,
That was exactly the information I was looking for. I did a hot swap with a new drive and I am back up and running. Thanks for your help!
