Smart Array 641 Controller

Can I use 133-MHz PCI -X
Smart Array 641 Controller
in mother board with 66MHz PCI -X slot?
Will it function correctly?
I want to use it in
Intel Server Board SE7501WV2.

Re: Smart Array 641 Controller

could you mention which server is haveing the following slot

66MHz PCI-X slot?

PCI-X technology. PCI-X can increase bus capacity to more than eight times the conventional PCI bus bandwith from 133MB/s (32-bit/33MHz PCI) to 1.066GB/s (64-bit/133MHz PCI-X).

PCI-X technology is backward compatible with conventional PCI systems at the system, device driver, and adapter levels. Conventional PCI adapters can operate in PCI-X systems, and vice versa. However, when a PCI-X adapter is placed on a conventional PCI bus, it is limited to conventional PCI speeds. A PCI-X system automatically switches between conventional PCI and PCI-X modes, depending on the type of adapters installed on the bus segment. If a PCI-X bus segment includes any conventional PCI adapters, that segment will operate in conventional PCI mode.

Re: Smart Array 641 Controller

On Intel Server Board SE7501WV2
there are PCI-X buses capable of
running at 66â 100 MHz, depending on system configuration.
So, as I could understand from your reply
there should not be any problem using
133MHz PCI-X adapter on
