SmartArray P410i - Convert single disk Raid 0 to two disk Raid 1

Hi,

I recently built a bunch of BL460c G7 and BL620c G7 servers and didn't realize that for some reason the 2 physical disks in the servers weren't mirrored by default. Only one was visible during the SmartStart deployment, but I guess that's because it was only the single "Raid 0" logical drive that was showing up.

The raid controller in these is the SmartArray P410i (Embedded). Is there any quick way to convert this single Raid 0 disk to Raid 1? I tried the ACU both in Windows and "offline" via the ISO but neither contains anything that would be of help.

Reading the doc on the card, it states "Addition of the battery backed cache upgrade enables BBWC, Raid 5, 5+0, array expansion, logical drive extension, RAID migration, and stripe size migration." I'm assuming I'm after array expansion, so does this mean I'm out of luck unless I get the upgrade for all of these?

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers,

Matt

Hi, ouch.

You do need the BBWC to be able to do the RAID migration.

Thanks for the confirmation Johan. Fortunately they're not in use yet so I know what I'll be doing tomorrow...
