I've configured a VA7100 with one A6189A controller installed and 15 36GB disks inserted.
I found that there were two pairs of optical ports which were noted "disk fc" and "host fc" respectively. Now I use "host fc" and connected it to a server and it works fine. But I couldn't help wonder what's the difference between these two pairs.
And I want to add a DS2405 disk system, can I use the "disk fc" to connect out to a DS2405 and make it as a expansion enclosure for VA
Plz help me or give me some useful documents
I'll very appreciate

Solutionthe A6189A is the VA7400 controller - so you don't have a VA7100.
You are correct, the disk port is for expansion to a DS2405.
There you can find another pairs of ports to expand to another DS2405 and so on until you reach 105 disks.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Some questions about VA 7100/7400
As I know Virtual Array divides its own enclosure into two redundancy groups am I right?
So I wonder if I add a DS2405(which will be full of disks by the way) to a VA
Which group will these ones belong to?
Thx

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00662561/c00662561.pdf
This is the manual about commandview sdm, it will tell you a lot about this topic.
This is a link to manuals about the VA7410, very similar to the VA7400:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=101&prodClassId=-1&contentType=SupportManual&docIndexId=179166&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=89018
Hope this helps!
