Spare disk with E200i and 4 72GB SAS on ML350G5

Hello,
I have a ML350G5 configured with E200i 128 + 4 SAS drives. I never found a way to check the spare disk option in bios startup (ORCA or OCRA i don't remember acronym) nor in ACU , nor in ACU CLI..)
Can someone tell me what is wrong in my configuration ? why can't i have 1 spare disk for this volume ?
many thanks for your help,
Alain GROSS.

Re: Spare disk with E200i and 4 72GB SAS on ML350G5

Hi Alain,

I'm not that familiar with SAS drives, however this might be happening because the fourth drive appears to be a Seagate model, rather than a HP model.

I know they're probably the same (or very similar) drives under the surface, but HP controllers tend to prefer drives with the HP firmware. There *might* be something in the E200i controller that stops non-HP drives working properly...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Rob

Hi Rob,
Thank you for your answer. I noticed this also but i ordered these 4 drives all together with the same HP part number...
I will call HP support to ask for confirmation.
Regards,
Alain.
