Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

Syslog displays vmunix: AUTOPATH : Device BC592400 is left open

Hello,

We're new to HP-UX and autopath and are facing some messages is the logs. I have read the forums but found no thread with errors similar to those we're getting.

We have a 2-node Oracle Database RAC and one of the nodes is displaying the following errors on syslog:

Apr 28 15:04:15 br173 vmunix: AUTOPATH : Device BC592400 is left open

There are lots of messages like this, with 28 different devices, which is exactly the number of asmdisks where have configured in our system and the message device numbers with the asm device files major/minor numbers.

crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 188 0x590600 Apr 28 14:36 asmdisk_001
...
...
crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 188 0x592400 Apr 28 08:29 asmdisk_015
...
...
crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 188 0x594000 Apr 28 15:19 asmdisk_028

The database is opened and working in this machine and its RAC sibling, which _does not_ show errors. Both machines have been rebooted and the errors continues to happen, always in the same one.

It seems the message is displayed when there is write activity to the asmdisk, but we are not sure.

The corresponding device is the lead one showed in autopath display

These lead us to think its a configuration problem. Any hint about the reasons?

Any more comand we can use to clarify this issue?

Any idea is very welcome.
Thanks.
