I've downloaded the firmware for my 12H (HP62) but now I don't know what to do to actually load it. I'm running HP-UX 11.0 on an N4000.
TIA, Greg

Solution1) Install the latest arraymgr software patch. PHCO_23262. - does not require a reboot.
2) Backup your data - so that you won't need the backup in the first place.
3) Umount the filesystems and deactivate the VG('s)
4) arraydsp -i and note the array ID.
5) Manually shutdown the 12H using thge front panel but don't power off.
6) download -C firmware_filename array_ID
Man download for details.
DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING until this operation completes.
You are done.

Re: Upgrade firmware on Autoraid 12H
You advised me to backup my data. Will upgrading the firmware result in a loss of data or array configuration?

No, but if it fails, your AutoRAID will be lost, and so will be your data.

Re: Upgrade firmware on Autoraid 12H
I've never lost a bit of data during a firmware upgrade BUT ...
To be honest, I've done this enough that I'm comfortable with it. As long as I know that I have a reasonably recent backup, I do the upgrade. At the very least, make certain that you have at least two of the power supplies connected to one or more UPS's before doing this. If power fails during the firmware upgrade, you are toast.

Re: Upgrade firmware on Autoraid 12H
I will backup before I do the upgrade. How long does the actual download take to complete?

Re: Upgrade firmware on Autoraid 12H
The download command should take about 2-3 minutes to complete and return your 12H to 'Ready' status. Your one download command will upgrade the firmware on both controllers. At that point you can activate your VG's and remount your filesystems.
Regards amd may the force be with you, Clay
