Upgrade path

Can I install a Smart 5300 controller in place of our 4300 and will it pull the information off the disks and self configure, or will I need to do a reload / restore. We have a ML570 with it's "B" channel full of 36 GIG drives, our user/Group drive. We have purchased a storageworks disk enclosure and a 5304 Smart controller. I need to find the most direct route to upgrade the controller, move the existing "D" drive from the ML570 to the StorageWorks rack and add more disks.

Excuse my typo's, I'm trying to go from a Smart 4200 to Smart 5300
