Upgrading EVA firmware...when?

Hi,

Is there an HP recommendations on when/how often to upgrade firmware on EVAs?

Thanks!

Re: Upgrading EVA firmware...when?

Well, you should at least be on a supported version, which for most models means the lastest version.
EVAs 3000/5000 Active/Passive should be on 3.100
EVAs 3000/5000 Active/Active should be on 4.100
EVAs 4x00/6x00/8x00 should be on 6.100 or 6.200
EVAs 4400 should be on 09001000 at least (to support 1 TB disks)

It's more important on recent models like the 4400, since there has been 6 firmware releases since the initial one in less than a year.

With any software / firmware update - read the release notes etc. This can tell you what changes are in the new version and from that you can determine whether you need to install the updates.

Staying current is always good practise. But you don't always have to go to every intermediate release if there's nothing in it for you.
Some releases are just for additional support which you may / may not need.
