Upgrading P2000 to MSA 2040? use existing sas controllers?

We are planning for upgrading to MSA 2040 from P2000. We want to replace only the disk enclosure to support SSD. We dont want to replace existing SAS controllers as to our setup we are not utilizing 6GB that SAS connection offers.  Our cost for upgrade would only be for the disk enclosure. Can this be possible? Thanks.

AFAIK the controllers make the 4th generation, the chassis is the same.

If you search partsurfer.hp.com for 639410-001 - chassis with midplane, you will see it is used in P2000 and MSA 2040.

Only the MSA 2040 are powerful enough to work with SSD.

SSD are not supported on MSA2000 G1 to G3 and MSA 1040.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
