If I remember correctly, the DS2405 was also used as a disk enclosure in the VA7000 Series Fibre Channel Storage Arrays (HP's own product).
What are you trying to do? Have some fun (don't get me wrong: nothing wrong with that) or build a serious environment?
If you are looking for a single-server solution - check out the SAS-based MSA products.

Re: Using EVA AG638A as standalone disk storage
Basically i need to build a system for wiping data from Fc drives, the software we use needs to get to the drives at a "raw" level, not through an o/s.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.....

Re: Using EVA AG638A as standalone disk storage
the DS2405 is working directly attached... but it's not supported. ;) Uwe is right, these shelfs was intended as expansion shelfs for the HP VA7x000 series.
Best regards,
Patrick

This is in fact an EVA disk enclosure with a different I/O module.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
