Re: VA 7400 giving WARNING STATE ; AMBER LIGHT

An "armdsp -a VA03" output will give much more information, but the provided information is enough to say you have a serious problem.

The best advice at this time is: call HP!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VA 7400 giving WARNING STATE ; AMBER LIGHT

The message "rebuild failed" doesn't looks good.

Please involve HP support and let them have a look on the internal array logs!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VA 7400 giving WARNING STATE ; AMBER LIGHT

The most common cause would be the failure or removal of a sufficient number of drives that the data and its redundancy are not available.

Re: VA 7400 giving WARNING STATE ; AMBER LIGHT

Hi,

I want to reformat the VA and then restore back the data.
But before then I want to collect some configuration files about the LUNs, host behaviour, armsecure or LUN security table, etc........ and aplly them after the formatting of the VA. Then I can still have the original configuration without stress.

Is there any script to automate this task ?

Assuming there is no script, What are the configuration files I have to backup from the unix servers attached to the SAN to the storage ?

Re: VA 7400 giving WARNING STATE ; AMBER LIGHT

Do you have a command view user manual?
You can find the current if you download the windows version of commandview SDM (zip file).
All values are shown in armdsp -a.
You need to know the secure manager settings and host behaviour table (just to have it).
It's all written in the manual.
If you are in doubt, post your questions or call hp.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
