VA7100 Storage array
I needed clarification on a question that I have been given some information on.
I was told that if I replaced the GBIC on the controllers that it would have an impact on the MAC addresses for the controllers because the GBIC contains a MAC address.
I don't think so, but anything is possible.
Is this a true statement??That the GBIC has a MAC address on it??
Thanks
Jim Garza

Re: VA7100 Storage array
GBICs have serial numbers, but no WWN/MAC addresses.

Re: VA7100 Storage array
Jim,
Gbic's do not have Mac address.
It is common problem that GBIC goes bad and need to be replaced, As far as i recall, replacing the GBIC should not effect your SAN configuration.
good luck
