VMWare ESX-server with SAN attach to HSG80
I work with Compaq StorageWorks and in this case, I'm working with another
consultant in trying to get two ESX-servers to see luns on a HSG80 based
storage cabinet. From my side it looks good, I see connections from the HBAs
and I've assigned two luns to the servers. The VMWare consultant wanted both
servers to see both luns, and I suppose that's how it's done.
However, he's not too happy. It seems he can see the luns, but they're not
very useful to him. I'm not sure what the error is, but he has a decidedly
worried look on his face.
Has anyone here attached ESX to an HSG80? The HBAs are QLogic, don't know
the exact model. I'm assumed it's linux-like OS, and for those of you who
know the HSG80, you set an OS type for the lun since various OSes implement
SCSI slightly different. Linux does not have it's own OS type but the manual
says "SUN" for Linux. Linux is supported by Compaq.
Does anyone know what HBA I should use? Perhaps the HBA Compaq supports for
Linux?
Any ideas welcome.
