VMware end EVA4000,6000 and 8000

Hi

From XCS V5.030 is is possible to choose VMware as OS type. Is it OK to use this option or should one choose custom and type in the correct hex value ?

On all EVA4000, EVA6000 and EVA8000 and on EVA3000 and EVA5000 with VCS4.x you do not need to enter a hex custom host mode for VMWare any more but you can use the VMWare host mode.

On EVA3000 and EVA5000 before VCS4.x you did not have a hostmode VMWare!

Hi,

Do you HAVE TO use VMWare host type?
Is it possible to use Windows host type if virtual machine is a Windows server?

Thanks

Yes, you need to use VMWare setting because the Host OS of VMWare doing the physical IO to the EVA is Linux.
The guest OSes do not communicate with the EVA but with a Linux file only.
