Which Array?

I have $5K to spend on a new raid array to attach to my HP9000 L2000. I have two unused Ultra160 cards to attach to.

I would like to have at least 6 disks in the rack mounted enclosure. I only need 500GB of storage.

Would anyone recommend an array that fits my budget/hardware requirements?

Re: Which Array?

Hi,
I don't belive you can find a HP array that fit your budget but, there is several 3-party, OS-independent RAID arrays on the market. I have used arrays from Fibrenetix on HP-UX servers for som time and I have not seen any problem with them.

Re: Which Array?

You might want to think about used gear. If you can get something HP, you may have a better service experience.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Which Array?

I would have thought you could put together a MSA30 dual bus for a little over $5K if you can negotiate a discount (easier via a reseller than talking direct to HP)

Or look at HP renew:

They may find you something for this price (such as an SC10. HVD10 or DS2300 or the like)

Re: Which Array?

you could probably do some used 7 x 73GB (511GB) 10k drives, rack mount SC10 array, A5150A dual Ultra2 LVD card, & cables for about $4,700.00, that would be the simplest in my opinion.
