XP 256 stripe size

What is XP 256 stripe size in a RAID5/RAID1 configuration? From my XP course, XP 512 has 576K stripe size in RAID 5 config and 384K in RAID 1 config

According to the Theory Of Operation Manuals, the XP256 & XP512 Stripe size is actually 58KB (based on a 3390-3 track size), regardless of the RAID architechure used. The numbers you quoted are actually "chunk" sizes.

The track size I was told by a friend is 48K used by IBM drive which XP emulated originally. Maybe the technique is evolving and the number 58K can do better magic

The track size you were told is incorrect.

The emmulated track size *IS* 58K, for all R300, R400 and R450 XP disk arrays. This is the max track size for an IBM 3390-3 DASD device. This is an architechural requirement for IBM mainframe connection but transparent (although still used) for all Open Systems.
