Hello,

In theory you can, if you have enough disk space left ,i.e...

Seeing that you don't have enough space for active hot spare, I don't see it as a possibility. Actually, you have to upgrade...

How is your AutoRAID setup up disk-wise? I.e, with what size of harddisks is it populated?

Hello,

I would not recommend that... if you want to replace a disk, replace it with one of the same size or higher.

If you have all disks in autoraid of size 4GB then you should install at least 2x9GB disks to allow these 5GB RAID1 mirroring otherwise you'll lose these 5GB

yeah as mentioned add disks in 2s, but also remember, that Active Hot spare also increases, you may have to disactivate it if you're full out!

NOTE: if the disks are 10krpm you will also need to change your FANS!!!

Is your 12H under a support contract? If it is call in a trouble ticket and get HP to replace the drive.

If not under support. Give me a call for options.
