can't re-install CmdView EVA 9.3

------
Short story:
------
Unistalled CVE 9.3 suite from AddRemoveProgs & rebooted.

Try to re-install and the install window bypasses
Intro
License
Install Set

and goes right to
Install Options
showing
EVAperf client
EVAperf server
SMI-S CIMOM
.

Something is making it think that CVE is already installed.

How do I force it to re-install from scratch????

-------------
Longer story
-------------
If I select an option, say, SMI-S, and let the installer go ahead thru, it completes with no errors and the log shows no errors.
But, CVE is not installed (not surprisingly, I guess).
There are no EVA icons on the desktop.
Nothing is listening on port 237x

Info:
. Windows 2003 sp2
. RSM (Replication Solutions Manager is NOT installed.
. I cleaned out the Hewlett-Packard install folder -- only has
Headless Server Registry Update
HP MPIO DSM
jre
. I also renamed
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Hewlett-Packard\HPCvEvaLic
to HPCvEvaLic_SAV.
. There are no Install Shield folders (as mentioned in the Inst manual)
. Checked Registry - nothing seemingly CVE related
. I tried re-installing MIF with the install.bat file
MIF gets installed and running -- BUT
Nothing is listening on port 237x.
(I subsequently removed it again)
. I even tried to downgrade to 9.2 and it says
"Installer has detected a superseded [sic] version
... will exit
"

-----------
Background:
-----------
HP upgraded the customer's EVA firmware to 09534000
and installed CVE 9.3 (as well as a ton of other crap).

Everything was working fine.

A while back the customer installed normal Windows Updates and apparently the CVE stopped working.

So, he tried uninstalling and re-installing CVE,
but couldn't make it work.

I thought
"How hard can this be ....?"

Re: can't re-install CmdView EVA 9.3

Hi Bob,

I've had have the same situation some months. I asked for help to the HP guys, they sent me a procedure which solved the case. Maybe work for you too.

Cheers,

Jairo.

Re: can't re-install CmdView EVA 9.3

The HP procedure provided by Jairo,
was the answer.

Even though this was a 32-bit W2k3 system, the above procedure for 64-bit gave me the clue for what to look for.

I had already done everything that it mentioned,
EXCEPT, the
Zero G Registry
thing.

On the 32-bit system, ZGR was not under
C:\Program Files\Hewlett Packard
, but was directly under
C:\Program Files\
so I had no clue about it's being related to CVE.

Anyway, deleting

C:\Program Files\Zero G Registry

fixed it !!!
I was able to do a full re-install and CVE works now.
