cannot delete logical drive on Smart Array P400

I want to delete a logical drive created on DL320 a storage server with Smat Array P400 controler

The ACU utility doesn't show me the delete option (in contrast to other logocal drives) and using the CLI give an error messages:

=> controller slot=2 logicaldrive 5 delete

Warning: Deleting the specified device(s) will result in data being lost.
Continue? (y/n) y

Error: Could not delete logicaldrive 5

Why can't I delete this LVOL ?

Re: cannot delete logical drive on Smart Array P400

Do you have a disk drive array that contains multiple logical drives and drive 5 is not the last one?

As far as I can tell, no SmartArray controller allows 'holes' in a drive array - you need to delete all logical drives 'behind' the one you want to get rid of, first :-(

Re: cannot delete logical drive on Smart Array P400

Uwe,

thats what it is I guess. There is one more logical drive (no.6) and for this logical drive
the ACU shows the 'delete option'.

Bad news :-((
