disk device names not found in /etc/lvmtab and in xpinfo

Hi All ,
Here i am using a XP-256 disk array .Some of the disk devices like ( /dev/dsk/c101t9d0 and some more ) i am unable to find in /etc/lvmtab , and the same devices are also not showing in xpinfo command .
But i am able to get the devices from ( ioscan -funC disk ) .
When i do a diskinfo it shows the size as 0 bytes .
So , what does this info shows ?

Hi Ranjit,

Is your this disk which you are referring to belongs to this XP itself. If yes it should be displayed in xpinfo. Allthough it is not necessary that it should be there in /etc/lvmtab. If this is unconfigured or is configured by some other means than LVM then it will not be displayed in /etc/lvmtab.

Ranjit,

The LUNs you are seeing are sometimes referred to as "psuedo LUNs" or "ghost LUNs". You will note they all show up as "DISK SUBSYSTEM" on the ioscan, and the LUN number is 0. (cXtYd0 - d is the LUN #). This is a placeholder used by the HP-UX operating system when scanning for LUNs in a SAN environment. It is worked around starting with the XP1024 array.

Don't worry about these LUNs. As you said they are 0 bytes. Some SAs have written scripts to hide visiblility to these with xpinfo.
