disk type unknown

I have installed a 5302 in a Proliant ML370 with 6 disks. (2x18Gb and 4x72Gb.)
The 5302 has been setup with array 'A' as RAID1 across 2 18Gb disks, array 'B' as RAID5 across 4 72GB disks
Using Disk Manager in Windows 2000, arrays 'A' can be partitioned and formatted and given drive letters, but array 'B' is detected as 'Unknown', has a red warning icon and can't be partioned.

Re: disk type unknown

I am presuming that you are using the 18GB's for the OS, and the 72GB's for a data partition. Questions:

1. Is the server part of a cluster?
2. Have you tried rescanning and writing a new signature to the disk?
3. Delete and recreate the array?

Ben.
