diskinfo returns: can't SIOC_INQUIRY /dev/rdsk/c8t2d1: I/O error
OS: HP-UX 11.i
HW: SuperDome 32 way
This happened when the original disk (EMC symmetrix BCV disk) was replaced with a different sized BCV disk.
I used rmsf to remove the special file and insf to recreate it. But no help.
Anyone had any idea what needs to be done to get the new disk work on the system.
Thanks.
Karen

Is the BCV currently synchronized with anything? You won't get a response from the disk unless it's split from its mirror.
If that's not it, is the BCV device in a ready state? You can use the "symdev show" command to determine this.

This disk has not been added to any device group yet. The problem is that I'm not able to see the sym id associated with that c8t2d1 device.

Try re-running "symcfg discover". It may be that the symapi database is out-of-whack.
