LUSE is used for provisioning to the windows platform as windows does not have a dedicated Volume Manager...

yes,
in the classical concept without the ThP the equivalent is LDEV interleaved concatenation (striping across up to 4x(7D+1P)=28D+4P - max.), with ThP, there is not such a limitation:
