host port behavior on va7400

After controller replacement armdsp shows port hardware path as unknown and ioscan shows it as no_hdw. The old controller was put back and port hardware path appeared again. Do anyone know where this setting is stored and should it go from one controller to another during controller replacement?

do you have wwn-based zoning in your san? then you must change that to your new controller's wwn.

Did you try to use the command fcmsutil replace_dsk? The new controller has a different WWN and you might need to tell this to the hba.

After replacing the controller, you MUST run:

/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil /dev/tdX replace_dsk 0xYYYYYY

where tdX is the fibre adapter attached to the replaced controller, and 0xYYYYY is the remote N_Port_ID of the replaced controller. You should be able to find this number in your syslog.log file as a message should have been written there after the new controller was installed.

Sorry, forgot to mention that connection goes via switch with no zoning and ports are set in point-to-point fabric mode. So fcmsutil will hardly help.

Actually my initial question was about host port behavior setting. Should it go from remaining controller to replacement controller?

All settings will remain the same when the controller is exchanged.

Fabric doesn't mean that you don't have to run replace_dsk. If you td is A5158A, you'll need to use replace_dsk with the controller ID (108 or 110).
