Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

Of course nobody here knows what happened!

I would connect to the HSG controller(s) and issue a

HSG> show units full
.

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

I have solve the problem , but I can understand the issue below:
the unit number only use d101,d102,d103,d104 , fail to use d8,d9,d10,d11 why ?

How are we supposed to know?
We don't know your configuration and
you didn't tell how you 'solved' the problem!
.

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

my environment
1.before solution:ra8000 share 9 lun (unit name is d1,d2,d3,d4,d8,d9,d10,d11,d12,d13,d14) to SAPTEST( host name) , the host only find d1,d2,d3,d4

2.after solution : change d8,d9,d10,d11,d12,d13,d14 to d5,d6,d7,d101,d102,d103,d104 ,SAPTEST( host name ) can all get them ,

3. I didn't why
4. the attachment is now configuration for your reference.

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

So this is a new configuration, not one that suddenly stopped working?

It sounds like you are using an old version of Tru64 Unix (V4) which uses a SCSI-2 driver and thus can only address 8 LUNs per target (HSG controller port). By creating units D101.. instead of D8.. you have put them onto controller B, Port_2 which provides a new target with its own LUN address space.

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

my O.S Tru64 5.1B (OSF1 SAPTEST V5.1 2650 alpha) , so you think it's O.S issue

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

No, Tru64 Unix V5.1B can definitely address LUNs > 8. Can you attach the output of:

> show this_controller
> show connections
.

Re: host ( tru64) fail to find the ra8000 lun

Ah, you don't have a Fibre Channel array (I was confused by the RA8000), but the HSZ is running SCSI-2 protcol, too.

I don't have a manual handy, so I don't know if you can switch it to SCSI-3, but you can still use units 200..207 and 300..307.
