hpux seing the lun with eva5000

I'm new to the hpux os. I'm trying to see the lun I created for the box. I type in ioscan and I don't see the lun. Do I need secure path?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

Hi Dave

After lun creation you have to install special file as per following:

#insf -e

Thereafter ioscan will show device files related to created lun

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

In order to see the EVA5000 you do not need secure path.
You can connect it single path.
See this for information ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/storageworks/whitepapers/5982-1850EN.pdf

If you connect an HP-UX server such that it can see more than one port of the EVA you will need secure path to deal with the different presentations of the same LUN over the two controllers!

But anyway you should see it.
You need to present the LUN to the server.
For step by step instruction see the HP-UX EVA guide here:

http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00308509/c00308509.pdf

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

Hi Dave,

here are the steps:

Install all patches (QP, HWE & Secure Path patches)

You have an EVA5000 then you need secure Path 3.0F (in the moment)

After installing SP you can do an ioscan and go on with an insf -e

For Connecting an EVA3k or 5k you need Secure Path (and important: Install patches - list in release nodes), for the 4k 6k or 8k you can use pvlinks...

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

You don't need to have SP. You can see the LUNs presented through the host.
After presentation you need to run
# insf -e -v -C disk
# ioscan -fnC disk

You should the devies files there and the device status as CLAIMED.

Then you can go ahead the configure the LUN in LVM as per your need.

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

still didn't work. I went into command view and everything looks good there.

Re: hpux seing the lun with eva5000

Hi Dave,

there are a lot of "NO_HW" entries in your ioscan. Please check your syslog file for entries.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
