increase array
I want to replace my (3) 18 gb drives in a RAID 5 that is using a Smart-2 controller(this is how it is listed on my NW server). I want to replace the drives one at a time with 36 gb drives, and use the cpqonlin NW utility. Will this work? Can I get 36 gb drives (scsi3?) that are compatible with a Smart-2 controller?

Re: increase array
I would say yes you can replace them one at a time (eg system will see a failed disk each time) but will only use 18Gb, I can think of away you could then get the other 18Gb used. The smart-2 only allows physical expansion but for new disks not replacement. cpqonlin won't help get this other disk space. The only option I would use is rebuild/restore. Yes you can get scsi3 36Gb - uk pn=176498-b21.

Re: increase array
Using a Smart 2 or newer (except Smart 2SL or Smart 221) will allow you swap one drive at a time untill all the drives in the Array have been replaced . Then run CPQONLIN to expand the additional drive space .
