is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
Tried to order an EVA8000 HSV210A controller.
Spare P/N: 390855-005
Got a reply that the 390855-006 (EV8100 HSV210B) works instead.
I am not confident, can any one please advise.
Regards,
Farid

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
HSV200-B and HSV210-B controllers require XCS v6.110 and are not compatible with any other controllers in the same storage system.
Controllers used in EVA4100, 6100 and 8100 arrays are not cross compatible with earlier controllers
390855-006 is only for a EVA8100.

How can we prove that it is not compatible?

Can you tell them to consult documents c01086156 and c01325634 please?

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
1 HSV200/210 controllers are not compatible with HSV200-A/B and HSV210-A/B controllers in the same storage system.
2 Controllers are compliant with the Reduction of Hazardous Substance Act (RoHS).
3 HSV200-B and HSV210-B controllers require XCS v6.110 and are not compatible with any other controllers in the same storage system.

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
(definitely the HSV210A will not work instead of HSV210B, since the last incudes switch support in the backend, but will the oppsite be true??)

Farid

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
I don't know what part of my first post is not understood. HSV210B controllers are NOT backwards compatible with HSV210 / HSV210A controllers and cannot be used on the same enclosure.
That's HP official statement and it's verbatim on it's internal documents (which people inside the organization can and SHOULD check)

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
390855-005 is HSV210
390855-005 is HSV210A
390855-006 is HSV210B
what I'm sure of is that our EVA8000 has 390855-005
Thanks
Farid

Re: is HSV210B backard compatible with HSV210A??
HSV210-A = 390855-005 (RoHS compliant, 4Gb ports)
HSV210-B = 390855-006 (new controller for EVA8100)
Each controller model is only compatible with itself.
